This post is my list of the characteristics I started developing in 2010 and have adapted over the years as I've continued on my foresight journey. The list defines the capacities and skills we need to develop to use our foresight when we are thinking about futures. I've divided the list into three groups: the first deals with cognitive characteristics, the second deals with personal characteristics, and the third deals with how we make our foresight 'real'.
Being a good ancestor is caring about our futures even though they don't exist, accepting that we have the power to shape those futures and using that power wisely today.
It's not easy to define futures thinking and foresight because it seems to be the norm in this field to re-invent definitions on a regular basis.
A quick read on why foresight matters.
